MONTREAL – Last night, I was having the most beautiful wrestling dream. This dream was too good to be true.
Did I actually dream that I was all pumped up to watch wrestling, like back in 1997, to spent 2 hours straight in front of the TV, on a Wednesday night with my little Bily Whisky (my sweet son aka my dog)?
Hell no! It wasn’t a dream, but a beautiful reality.
AEW’s weekly show, Dynamite, is on TV and let me tell you, my Wednesday night has gotten a lot more interesting! Usually mine and Bily’s TV nights are spent watching his favourite shows on PBS, like Nature and Nova.
When Cody and Brandi Rhode made their entrance in the ring (it was breathtaking by the way), I had tears of joy. Yes, I get emotional sometimes. I had tears of joy because it was a dream come true for many people.
Here a clip:
It was a dream for Aubrey Edwards to be the first female referee at a major wrestling federation.
It was a dream for Earl Hebner to continue doing what he loves as a referee and a mentor for everyone.
It was a dream for Jim Ross to be back home since he started his career with NWA/WCW. AEW is the continuation of the federation where the big boys (and big girls) played.
It was a dream for Dustin Rhodes to be respected for all his accomplishments and knowledge, and for him to be treated as the legend he truly is.
It was dream for Tony Schiavone, Excalibur and Justin Roberts to be back on the mic, having the time of their lives.
It was a dream for Brandi Rhodes to finally be herself and not be called a name she didn’t even like. She is Brandi, not Eden Stiles, and this lets her use her professional experience as a reporter and her marketing skills as the COO to entertain us in and outside of the ring.
It was a dream for Kenny Omega, Matt and Nick Jackson, Jon Moxley, Chris Jericho, Adam Page, Angélico, Brandon Cutler, Christopher Daniels, Frankie Kazarian, Jake Hager, Jack Perry aka Jungle Boy, Pac, Sammy Guevara, Riho, Britt Baker and so many wrestlers on the roster to be part of something really special, and share their energy and creativity in entertaining us.
It was the dream of a young boy, Cody Rhodes, to never give up following his dreams.
All those dreams came true last night because one man inspired them all, even before some of them were born. This man was a dream who became a reality by being an entertainer, mentor, friend, colleague, wrestler, and father.
That man is Dusty Rhodes and today, his dream is a reality. It’s pure Dynamite!
