So Far, So Good

I couldn’t wait the six months anniversary of The Chronicle to do this little video.

This spring has been very enlightening and new collaborations and friendship has been made.

The best is yet to come for The C. Let’s continue to have fun and to discover new bands, new artists, talking about the world of Pop Culture, living and breathing our passion for sports ( yesss Golden States are the champs).

Ok back to the main topic. Here a nice throwback spring moment.

Enjoy!

Wild World

Since I was a little girl, this song was always one of my ultimate favorite. My mommy and me song. The world in my eyes were less crazy in the 80’s.

Cat Stevens

Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) was and still is my remedy musician when I feel helpless, discouraged and sad by the mankind. He does put a smile upon my face.

The legend

Here a beautiful prestation of this peaceful and legendary song with Yusuf Islam and Chris Cornell.

Wild World by Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) and Chris Cornell

Two beautiful souls. It’s does still hurt like hell the sudden passing of Chris. His voice, his love for music will always confort our soul in this wild world.

Wild World Chris and Yusuf

Now that I’ve lost everything to you
You say you want to start something new
And it’s breaking my heart you’re leaving
Baby, I’m grieving

But if you want to leave, take good care
Hope you have a lot of nice things to wear
But then a lot of nice things turn bad out there

Oh baby baby it’s a wild world
It’s hard to get by just upon a smile
Oh baby baby it’s a wild world
I’ll always remember you like a child, girl

You know I’ve seen a lot of what the world can do
And it’s breaking my heart in two
‘Cause I never want to see you sad girl
Don’t be a bad girl

But if you want to leave take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there’s a lot of bad and beware
Beware

Lyrics and music by Cat Stevens

Still in shock… But we will survive

I’m trying to accept the passing of Chris Cornell and I’m still think it’s a bad dream. I’m thinking about his wife, his children, family and friends.

On today Chronicle, let’s focusing on celebrating life!

LIFE

The little happiness that we witness every day. Music is a big part of my happiness. While driving last night, I sang in my car with my most not very great singing voice Black Hole Sun like they were no tomorrow. At the end, I had a little smile thinking of Chris Cornell was sitting next to me and hearing me singing, he would probably hey girlfriend, just keep your day job with a smile.

Today, I’m listening to my East Coast Samurais playlist. On the menu, Mark Ronson Oh-Wee with Ghostface Killah (2003), A Tribe Called Quest Scenario, Michael Jackson “Hmm he is not from the East Coast but he is the King so he is on this list” Human Nature, RZA Love Jones and the list goes on. I will add a little bit of George and Stevie to the mix. Why not!

I must write soon a Chronicle about Mark Ronson. In my mind, he is Quincy Jones son. One of best producers out there Since for me 2003 when I discover him listening to a hip-hop radio show a Saturday night “CKUT”.

Everyone was falling in love with his collaboration with Bruno Mars (another nice and talented man) with Uptown Funk but I go way back and kept saying to my friends this guy is the bomb!

Ronson

Music is my savior.

Goodbye Sir Christopher Cornell

I can’t believe the news today oh boy…

Disbelief, sadness, total choc, mad and melancholic.

Waking up and reading that Chris Cornell has passed away, I just cannot believe it and I have too like the rest of us.

Chris C

Yesterday on my way back home, I was actually thinking of writing a Chronicle about the bands I cherish with one of my best friend Van in the Rock and Alternatif scene.

This beautiful drawing you saw is from the artist Micheal Shifflett.

Soundgarden was one of my first band I really cherish during those Seattle Kings. I was always more a Soundgarden fan than a Nirvana. The melody, the sound of each instrument perfectly orchestrated and oh my his voice. They were my kind of band.

I can perfectly remember the first time I saw the Black Hole Song on Musique Plus. Actually it was my big brother that was in deep in the Hip-Hop world show me this video and said: It is fuck up but so good. Little sister, this is your kind of world. I was 10 or 11 and he was right.

Soundgarden 90

The album Superunknown is still an album I’m listening and for me, it will never faded away.

In 2012, when I bought their new album King Animal and listening to the song Been away for to long, I was singing pretty loud in my car the chorus I’ve been away for to long.

King animals

This is an album back to the source. For me, my Seattle kings were back and here to stay for good. The song By Crooked Step is pure perfection. Kim Thayil is like a scientist on this song.

Soundgarden

I was so happy to hear that Soundgarden reunited and were touring. When I read a few months ago that Chris was involve the movie The Promise, I was happy and glad.

Here a nice article on The Rolling Stones about his creative process for the main title track on The Promise soundtrack.

He did some amazing songwriting a for  movies such as 12 years of slave, Casino Royale, The Promise.

He was a beautiful creature that will be sadly missed. My deepest sympathies goes to his family and friends.
