Am I going to write the same post-Super Bowl every year?

Written by Sabine Demosthenes

MONTREAL- It’s Monday morning and the first sentence that came to my mind was: Do the Pats have more rings in their jewelry boxes than I do in mine?

tom brady and his rings

I guess they are coming closer and closer to having more rings than I do.

Foremost, I would like to congratulate the 2019 Super Bowl champion, yet again… Usually, I’m not a happy camper after another championship won by the Pats, but as I predicted, they won. So, I’m not that surprised. I was really surprised about the lack of action and the thought crossed my mind that this was the most boring match I’ve seen in the past twenty years! Omg, even Bily Whisky, my little furry son, was sleeping through it.

Bily Whisky asleep

What happened to the Rams?

They were supposed to have Bill Belichik’splaybook in their hands. They could have won but again, The Pats showed us that they were better prepared; even if it was to play a more defensive game. Actually, both teams were in a more defensive state of mind than an offensive one.

I guess The Pats will say again in front of a camera with their biggest smile on their faces and their kids chanting: We are going to Disneyland.

Am I going to write about the half-time game?

Hm, I will only say this:

Dear NFL executive team, do you have Metallica, Smoky Robinson, Chaka Khan, Earth, Wind and Fire, Wu-Tang and Arcade Fire’s phone numbers?

I’m dropping my mic right there.

Obama drop the mic

On a positive note, The Pats have a Haitian on the team and he did the Haitian people proud. Sony Michel is a name to remember! I will gladly say, on this occasion where one sentence can contain these words, Haiti won the Super Bowl! Ok, ok, a really small part of Haiti won the Super Bowl.

I guess we are not a product of a “shit hole country”. Right, number 45?!

Now that the football season is over, I will get back to my usual: Omg, what I will do with the rest of my life (from February until September)?

I will watch the soap opera of the NBA. I will admire my curling army (like my in-laws used to do). I will get my blood pressure high by screaming at the screen while watching The Champions League and I will stress myself to the point of destroying (not really) my electric guitar while I watch Naomi Osaka win Wimbledon, the Rogers Cup, and The US Open and saying out loud Haiti!

Naomi Osaka

I guess I will survive another seven months without the boys.

Still in shock… But we will survive

I’m trying to accept the passing of Chris Cornell and I’m still think it’s a bad dream. I’m thinking about his wife, his children, family and friends.

On today Chronicle, let’s focusing on celebrating life!

The little happiness that we witness every day. Music is a big part of my happiness. While driving last night, I sang in my car with my most not very great singing voice Black Hole Sun like they were no tomorrow. At the end, I had a little smile thinking of Chris Cornell was sitting next to me and hearing me singing, he would probably hey girlfriend, just keep your day job with a smile.

Today, I’m listening to my East Coast Samurais playlist. On the menu, Mark Ronson Oh-Wee with Ghostface Killah (2003), A Tribe Called Quest Scenario, Michael Jackson “Hmm he is not from the East Coast but he is the King so he is on this list” Human Nature, RZA Love Jones and the list goes on. I will add a little bit of George and Stevie to the mix. Why not!

I must write soon a Chronicle about Mark Ronson. In my mind, he is Quincy Jones son. One of best producers out there Since for me 2003 when I discover him listening to a hip-hop radio show a Saturday night “CKUT”.

Everyone was falling in love with his collaboration with Bruno Mars (another nice and talented man) with Uptown Funk but I go way back and kept saying to my friends this guy is the bomb!

Music is my savior.

What a week!

May 1st week

Wu-Tang, The Santa Teresa Festival, Jaanika Peerna Montreal exposition and Ayrton Senna w

I can’t thank you enough my faithful readers for your consistency and your positif vibes.

As the world may seem a little crazier, some people have not so good intention with healthcare and decency  (we all know who there are), let try to keep our smile upon our faces and concentrate on happy thoughts, peaceful resolution and laughing moments.

On that note, here my little buddy starting his day The Casamigos way.

Next week or maybe this weekend, I will do a little Chronicle about Casamigos! I am a big tequila fan and why not writing about this award winning tequila.

Enter the Wu-Tang

My throwback Thursday moment is actually one of the greatest album of all time from this legendary group.

Wu Tang

I will even said that they are in the same league as the Fab Four, The Stones, Pink Floyd and Led Zep. They have the same magical touch and that same aura about them.

You cannot believe I heard this album in my childhood. My brother would play it over and over again and usually, you get tired at a certain point. But for us, it wasn’t the case.

Wu-Tang was a band like no others Hip/hop band. The big maestro RZA, the poetic Ghostface Killer, The Method, The Inspector Inspectah Deck,  the authentic GZA, the pragmatic  Ol Dirty Bastard and many others members gave us so many iconic songs and change the face of hip-hop for ever.

This album was a warm up for what was coming for us.

Enter the W T

C.R.E.A.M, this song still bring me back so many memories and omg the beat is still as enigmatic now as before in the 90’s.

My throwback is not a sweet picture of me when I was a little girl but instead, it is about an album that brought a new dimension to hip-hop music and I will dare to see even beyond the hip-hop world.

They are still inspiring many artists not only in the hip-hop community but alternative, indie rock and rock. RZA did a collaboration with Thenewno2 on the song The Waitaround. Pure magic this song. The waitaround night and day for an answer till they make you forget what you’re after…

Kendrick Lamar, Common, Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def are rappers that I admire and sometimes make me thing of Wu-Tang. I doesn’t seem force for them to rap. It like breathing for them. Hmm it’s almost a Bruce Lee philosophy thinking I’m doing right now when he said to a young kid in a movie :

Don’t think… Breathe!

On that note, let’s breathe everybody and let our souls emerging to some Wu-Tang music.
